Wallace Lee
1933-2005
Wallace Lee was a Panguitch native. He became well known for his portraits and paintings of southern Utah and southwestern landscapes. At one time, he served as the town’s dentist and mayor. He picked up art seriously after retirement from dentistry. He was adept in watercolor, oil, and pastels. He was an adjunct professor of art at Dixie State College, taught private workshops in art, and received local and national acclaim for his artwork. He was a Signature Member of the Nevada Watercolor Society and a Signature Member of the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies. Wallace received numerous awards for his artwork including: -2002 “Mini 50” Arts for the Parks Competition, “REGION II WINNER” Jackson Hole, Wyoming. -2002 “Best of Show” Nevada Watercolor Society Signature Member Exhibit, Las Vegas, Nevada. -1999 and 2000 “Award for Excellence” Jackson Hole, Wyoming. -1998, 1999, 2001, 2002 & 2003 “Juror’s Commendation Award” and “Merit Award” Western Federation of Watercolor Societies Exhibit San Diego, California and Park City, Utah.
